Road to Santiago
Camino de Santiago by Bike: the Silver Route
DURATION: 15 days | LEVEL: | MODALITY: Cyclotourism / MTB
Discover the Camino de Santiago by bike: Ruta la Plata. A route that follows in the wake of the ancient Roman road that linked the villages of the north and south of the peninsula with this route full of history and exceptional landscapes.

The Camino de Santiago by Bike: Ruta la Plata, is one of the most attractive alternatives to get to Santiago. The Roman remains that have come down to us are numerous and of great quality, such as the monumental complex of the city of Emerita Augusta (Merida), one of the most important capitals of the Roman Empire. In addition the Silver Route was the main pilgrimage route to Santiago for the peoples of the south of the peninsula since the Middle Ages. The natural landscapes it crosses are of great beauty.
Unlike the French Way this alternative presents several stretches of natural environments with low presence of populations. The route is composed of dirt tracks and roads with minimal parts of asphalt. The difficulties of the terrain change a lot in case of rain as some tracks are affected by mud. This is an alternative to be avoided in the central summer months due to the high temperatures in the south of Spain.
