BICIS EN RUTA
Bicis en Ruta is a travel agency specialising in bicycle routes. We organise trips in the following categories: Mountain Bike, Cycle Tourism, Gravel, and Road Cycling . Our routes are designed to fully enjoy the most spectacular natural environments in our country. We are aimed at both the most experienced bikers and those who find in cycle tourism a new way to enjoy nature and an enriching alternative to travel. And in recent years we have been paying more attention to the older public , a sector eager to enjoy thanks to the tranquillity and autonomy that e-bikes now offer them.
We carry out routes exclusively for groups , since we take care of the entire logistics of a trip and it is in groups where the costs are reasonably amortized.
You will see how we organize trips in our GROUP SERVICES section of the website.
In the ROUTES section you will see some of the proposals. In recent years, we have been creating new routes around Spain and Europe that are pending to be added to the website. All of them appear on the initial map in the ROUTES section.
Our Instagram page (instagram.com/bicisenruta) will give you a concrete idea of our activity and our variety of trips.

We like to travel through the most beautiful landscapes of the territories we visit. And we like to discover things as we travel . To experience the territories we visit, to discover their culture, their art, their gastronomy and their people.
We look for sustainable accommodations as much as possible , that offer food options with local products , bike friendly, and with people deeply rooted in the territory.
In terms of accommodation, we carefully select those that follow sustainability guidelines and criteria in their activity, mainly in terms of energy consumption and regulation and waste treatment.
Our Biosphere accreditation annually renews our commitments to sustainability and the environment.
We want to go deep into nature, and to do so we provide knowledge of the terrain , design and optimal planning of routes and levels . We understand that our country provides rich and diverse natural, scenic and cultural resources that we must take advantage of with respect and honesty . When we cross natural parks or reserves with specific protection, we will give you specific guidelines so that our passage does not leave a trace or affect the fauna and flora of the place. We must leave the environment as we found it.
Our experience travelling in other countries has given us a good understanding of the needs of bicycle tourism, including vehicle transport, maintenance, assistance, and finding the quietest and most spectacular routes.
BENEFITS OF USING A BICYCLE
Practicing cycling, both in its more sporting and competitive forms and in its more relaxed and cycle-touring forms, generates a series of benefits documented by various doctors. The benefits are directed both to the brain , considerably improving neuronal connections and increasing our cognitive and attention processes, as well as to the emotional and cardiovascular processes .

Meet our collaborating guides

ISMAEL . Creator of Biking Through Spain and Bicis en Ruta. He has enjoyed climbing the Pyrenees since he was a child, taking on the most beautiful mountains in the Alps as a young man and crossing the Karakorum as an adult to experience Stendhal syndrome in the face of the wildest nature.
He has run through mountains, on tracks and jogged in several marathons. Since the 90s he has not stopped travelling by bicycle. Trips that have taken him across the Pyrenees from sea to sea, through French Brittany on its many variants, down from the Alps to Rome on ancient pilgrimage routes or on the various variants of the “Camino”.

XABIER. Restless spirit, graduate in Physical Education, mountain and ski guide as well as guide trainer with extensive experience in teaching. He has worked in Catalonia and the Basque Country and has travelled across the five continents by bike, on foot and skiing. As a guide he has worked in the Pyrenees, the Alps and of course, at home: the Basque Country holds no secrets for him.

JOSU . A young athlete from the Basque Country, who has had a bike between his legs since he was little. His favourite sport is swimming and water polo, where he has performed at a high level since he was young and has taken part in several open sea crossings.
On his bike, he prefers enduro and downhill, the latter being a modality that has been gaining strength in recent years. Josu is part of the BetiBehera downhill team where he has competed in several races such as Sant Andreu de la Barca, Morata de Tajuña and, no less important, the Bilbao City World Tour where he has faced professional riders.

IKER . Lover of the mountains, outdoor work and travelling. Graduated in sports teaching, ski instructor, Telemark and rafting and bicycle guide. He quickly goes from white mountains to green, rocky and watery ones. He currently works in the Pyrenees, but has not given up on his beloved Euskal Herria. He has undertaken great routes in cycle tourism such as: Granada – Berlin North coast, Bilbao – Slovenia South coast and lately he is more of a fan of trail riding, without giving up on the great routes to come.

JAVIER . Sportsman, traveller and adventurer by nature. Cycle tourism is one of his great passions.
He loves sharing spectacular landscapes, emotional stories and great moments with our clients. Expert in the design and management of tourist structures and a good designer of bicycle itineraries for different profiles and areas of our geography.

JOSE . He began his contact with mountaineering in the Basque Country. Nature and everything that surrounds it opens up a world of sensations for him that he never tires of exploring. He has done trekking and climbing in North and South America, North Africa, the Himalayas and throughout Europe. He also practices mountain and alpine skiing.
Great MTB expert in the province where he resides in Bizkaia and other important routes in the geography. His true passion is to carry out routes, although from time to time he gets the competitive bug and participates in some XC events and alpine duathlons. He has a professional training as a Mountain Guide and Mountain Bike.
If you want to enjoy a memorable experience, Jose will help you find it.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
SOLIDARITY PROJECTS
We are convinced that wanting a sustainable and fairer world is not enough on its own. It is our personal actions, however small they may seem, that, when added to those of our environment, will achieve transformation. And, apart from what each one believes about the more or less utopian value of the proposal, what is certain and tangible is the concrete effect of these actions. We present to you these specific projects in which we collaborate with part of the profits of our company.
NASCO Feeding Minds
We collaborate with NASCO Feeding Minds because we feel committed and stimulated by the objectives of their project. NASCO Feeding Minds is dedicated to creating opportunities for the younger generations of Ghana by providing them with digital education. Education is the great tool that can change the history of Africa. The NASCO Feeding Minds project was born from the eventful history of its founder, Ousman Oumar , a person we know for his connection to the world of cycling. His story has been heard in different forums and business schools, and his NGO has received massive support from Catalan society.

Bicycles without Borders

We have dedicated part of our profits between 2016 and 2018 to promoting the Bicycles Without Borders programs . In this case, the fact that the bike is a basic tool to gain access to knowledge creates links between our projects. Bicycles Without Borders, in its current project, is enabling 800 Senegalese children to avoid walking daily along a dusty track at 40º to get to school. Having a bike entails an energy cost 5 times lower than walking and in many cases represents the border between being able to attend school or not.
